“Yes, Angelia has collected a lot of information about you. Whenever you appear in a magazine, she buys it and cuts out your picture to paste in her notebook. She was originally in the business department, but when she found out you were coming, she fought to become your room manager. She’s not a professional, so she may not do everything perfectly. Please forgive her,” Kate said softly.

Jerome kept his eyes on the screen and continued to work, expressionless and cold.

Kate couldn’t read his thoughts and reminded him, “If you think Angelia is not suitable, you can choose someone else designated by our manager.”

    “Okay,” Jerome replied.

Kate happily went to pour the coffee.

Angelia didn’t have much work today and left early to buy chicken wings, pork elbows, tomatoes, and tofu at the market.

She wanted to cook dishes that Alyssa loves.

Upon opening the door, Alyssa’s childish voice could be heard saying to the housekeeper, “Why is my mom always making things difficult for me? It’s causing me so much stress, I can’t even focus at preschool.”

“What did I do to make you lose focus?” Angelia asked.

Alyssa turned around, her face identical to Angelia’s when she was a child, and complained, “You made me too beautiful, so many boys are chasing after me. I don’t like kids, they’re too annoying.”

Angelia laughed, “Well, that’s my fault then.”

“You’re at fault for not finding a better husband. I need someone reliable to be a good dad. I have to do everything myself,” Alyssa said like a little adult.

“Well, that’s really hard on you,” Angelia replied.

“I don’t have a choice. You’re always working and can’t be relied on. I have to do things myself to get them done faster,” Alyssa said as she turned on the TV and saw Jerome on the news.

She clicked on his picture and said, “Mom, I like this guy. Maybe he was my lover in my past life.”

Angelia glanced at Jerome’s picture on the TV screen and said, “He only has one thing in common with your past lover – gender,” and then went into the kitchen.

An hour later, there was a knock at the door.

Angelia came out of the kitchen and saw Sammie’s mother had arrived. She greeted her, “Mom, you’re here. We’re just about to have dinner, why don’t you join us?”

Amanda Charles looked down on Angelia and asked, “Can your cooking even be eaten?”

“It’s alright, we’re living healthily,” Angelia replied with a smile.Amanda Charles’ gaze swept over Angelia’s flat stomach, and she couldn’t help but exclaim, “What’s the use of being healthy? You’ve been married to Sammie for five years and only gave birth to a worthless girl. Our family’s huge industry needs a boy to take over. If there’s still no news in your stomach, what good is your health?”

Angelia pursed her lips and didn’t say anything. Amanda Charles gave her a disdainful look and ordered, “Don’t go to work at the hotel anymore. It’s embarrassing to even say it out loud. Take care of your husband well. If you can’t give birth to a son, then get out of my sight.”

Alyssa threw the remote control and looked at Amanda Charles, “Grandma, are girls really worthless?”

“Of course,” Amanda Charles said without hesitation.

“Then you’re worthless too, grandma,” Alyssa said bluntly.

Amanda Charles flew into a rage and pointed at Angelia, “How did you teach your child?”

“Mom never taught me that girls are worthless. Wasn’t it grandma who said that?” Alyssa retorted.

Amanda Charles became even more furious, “If Sammie hadn’t said you were pregnant with a boy, I wouldn’t have agreed to let you in.”

    “Grandma, you’ve gone too far.”

Amanda Charles slapped Alyssa in the face, and Angelia grabbed Amanda Charles’ hand, “Mom, children speak their minds. Why bother with a child?”

“I think you’ve spoiled her too much. If you can’t give birth to a son, don’t expect to get a penny from Sammie,” Amanda Charles said angrily as she walked away.

“Mom, don’t be afraid. Whoever bullies you, I’ll bully them,” Alyssa said, patting her chest.

Angelia looked at Alyssa’s mature appearance and smiled. They say that daughters are their mother’s little cotton jackets, a warm and comforting presence.

After finishing dinner, Angelia had just put Alyssa to sleep when her phone rang. She immediately silenced the ringtone and answered the call after leaving the room.

“Where are you?” Sammie sounded a little drunk.

    “At home.”

“Come to Room 308 at The Jolly Roger Pub, now, immediately, right away.”

“No, I’m not coming.” Angelia refused firmly. She didn’t want to enter Sammie’s shady circle.

“I have something important to tell you, you have to come, it’s about my mom wanting a grandson.”

Angelia also wanted to resolve this matter, so that Amanda Charles wouldn’t keep bothering her and it wouldn’t be good for Alyssa’s growth.

She looked at her watch, it was only 8:10 pm. “I’ll be there in a while.”

In the private room, besides Sammie, there was a man whom Angelia didn’t know. He was handsome, with features no worse than Read’s, wearing a white shirt and black trousers.

Sammie put a glass of alcohol in front of Angelia. “Drink it.”

Looking at his drunken state, Angelia said rationally, “We need to discuss important matters, I don’t think it’s suitable to drink.”

Sammie burped and pointed to the man opposite, “He’s Quinton, a model who returned from studying abroad in the United States. He’s skilled, good-looking, knowledgeable, and most importantly, bisexual. Later, the three of us will be together until you give birth to a son.”

Angelia’s eyes were about to roll to the sky, and an unnamed anger rose from her heart.

“You can be as disgusting and vulgar outside as you want, but we only have a contractual relationship and live our own lives. Don’t cross my bottom line with your filth.” Angelia stood up.Sammie held Angelia’s hand and said, “I spent four hundred thousand for a daughter. If you give birth to a son, I will give you four million plus a house.”

Angelia sneered. She had only agreed to marry him to save her grandmother. She didn’t care about his money.

“I will repay the four hundred thousand as soon as possible, and you can easily find another woman who is pregnant with a son to marry,” Angelia said, shaking off his hand.

Sammie stood up unsteadily and said, “The four hundred thousand from five years ago is now worth one million. Many people would love to be the young madam of the Sammie family.”

“Well, then go find them,” Angelia replied indifferently, walking towards the door.

Sammie grabbed Angelia’s arm and warned her angrily, “Don’t ruin my mood, Angelia. You have to do it today, even if you don’t want to.”

“Get lost,” Angelia said, biting Sammie’s arm and freeing herself.

Sammie let go of Angelia, who immediately ran outside. “Catch her, I don’t believe it. Let’s see who’s the S and who’s the M today,” Sammie shouted frantically.

Quinton immediately got up to chase Angelia. She turned a corner, but he caught up with her. She pushed open the door to a private room and went under the table.

As soon as she got under the table, the door was pushed open. Angelia held her breath and saw several feet, but only one person sat down.

“Sorry, Mr. Taylor, the acquisition did not go as planned because Mr. Charles senior was too stubborn and Ms. Charles intervened,” Wallace said nervously.

Jerome sat in the main seat, tapping the table rhythmically with his fingers and looking at Wallace. “I’m not here to listen to your excuses, but I need you to provide a solution. I must succeed in this acquisition.”

“Amanda Charles provided false data for the IPO, and many of its subsidiaries have various problems. We plan to start with Amanda Charles Pharmaceuticals.”

“I’ll give you one week. If you don’t do well, pack up and leave,” Jerome said.

“Yes,” Wallace and his team replied fearfully.

    “Sit down.”

Jerome spoke, and they dared to sit down.
