Chapter 5: Why not?
by adminThe next day, Yolanda returned from grocery shopping and saw an old residential building that had a black Mercedes parked outside. She furrowed her eyebrows and immediately guessed that he had come.
She walked up the short and narrow stairs to the fourth floor where the walls that had lost their original color were covered with layer upon layer of small ads.
The rusty old iron door seemed to be corroded by time, leaving only a spotted shell.
A man wearing exquisite clothing that was completely out of place with everything around him was standing in front of the iron door.
When he saw Yolanda, the man hesitated for a moment and opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something but didn’t know where to start.
Yolanda stared at the man for a long time before clearing her throat and saying, “Come in and have a seat.”
Yolanda took out the key and opened the iron door, which made an extremely harsh sound.
When the man entered the room and looked around at the shabby surroundings, he felt a bit uncomfortable.
“Helen, this is your father.” Yolanda maintained a neutral expression and poured a glass of water for the man before saying to Helena, who was coming out of the room.
When Helena saw Lngram York again, her complex emotions welled up. In her previous life, it was her fault that caused him to commit suicide.
Although Lngram was not close to Helena, he never lost money when it came to her.
Even in the final moments of his life, he talked to her and called her “Helen” for the first time, and even mentioned his past with Yolanda.
Helena didn’t understand why two people who loved each other so much had come to this, was it a misunderstanding or was there some kind of conspiracy?
Thinking of this, the pain in Helena’s right arm, which felt like a bone being crushed by a wheel, returned.
There was a sinister gleam in her eyes. She was definitely not going to let go of this.
In her previous life, she had made a vow before she died that she would make these scums suffer if she ever had the chance to start over.
She would gradually settle the accounts from her previous life in this life.
Lngram looked at Helena and saw the towering hatred in her eyes.
Vanessa was right, she had really grown up in hatred. Lngram wondered if she could still be saved.
“Helen?” Yolanda looked at Helena, who was standing with her back to her and asked, “What are you thinking?”
“Nothing.” Helena turned around, looked at Lngram and said, “Father.”
“Ah.” Lngram nodded and drank a sip of water, furrowing his brow again.
Although the tap water had been boiled, it still had a strange smell, which would definitely be harmful to the human body.
He cleared his throat and said, “I came this time to personally take Helena back.”
“I know.” Yolanda knew it at first sight, when she saw the car downstairs. She sat down next to Lngram and said, “You should ask Helena about this.”
“Helena, why did you decide this?” Lngram looked at Helena and said, “Your living conditions will improve a lot if you come back with me. Your mother said you miss Liberty High School a lot. I’ll arrange it for you if you decide to come back with me.”
It was at Liberty High School where she met Kathleen Marsh… Helena’s eyes flickered with emotion when she thought of this.
Lngram thought Helena was wavering, so he continued, “Not only Liberty High School, if you’re willing to come back with me, I’ll pay your mother a sum of money as compensation for raising you until now.”
“I don’t want your money.” Yolanda furrowed her brows slightly and refused.
“Why are you so stubborn?” Lngram was a bit headache-inducing. Yolanda hadn’t changed at all in these years.
“Hmph,” Yolanda snorted coldly but didn’t answer.
“Why not?” Helena smiled slightly. She had already made up her mind, she wanted to return to the York family.
Not only did she want to return, but she also planned to find a way to bring Yolanda back to the York family.
