The quiet hospital room was filled with a deathly silence.

Zachary and Fernando remained silent for a long time, looking at Ophelia’s disappointed expression.

They both wondered if they had wrongly accused her of not doing anything when Vera suddenly screamed and fell down.

“It hurts so much,” Vera cried and wailed, breaking the tense atmosphere. “Zachary, Fernando, it hurts so much!”

This time, she was crying with real emotions. She didn’t know what Ophelia had done to her, but her body felt numb, as if she was being pricked by needles.

While Vera was crying and shouting, Ophelia examined her own arm, where a bright red handprint was still visible. Then, she raised her hand and slapped Vera hard across the face.

    “Smack!”

Vera staggered and fell to the ground again.

Ophelia laughed indifferently and said, “There, I’ve returned it to you.”

Everyone in Chicago knew that Ophelia was a person who would take revenge at all costs.

Fernando was the first to regain his composure and immediately exploded with rage. “Ophelia, you’ve gone too far!”

“Fernando,” Vera cried in tears, feeling helpless and vulnerable. “It hurts so much!”

“Don’t worry, Vera. I’ll take you to see a doctor right now,”

Fernando said, holding Vera in his arms with tenderness. Before leaving, he turned to Ophelia and left her with a stern warning.

“Since you saw everything yesterday, I’ll tell you this: I love Vera. As for this engagement between us, you must cancel it whether you like it or not!”

The door to the hospital room slammed shut as Fernando and Zachary left. Before leaving, Zachary also said, “Fernando and Vera are meant to be together. If you continue to hold on, you’ll only bring shame upon yourself.”

    Shame upon herself?

Ophelia sat on the hospital bed and smiled lightly at his words.

However, the emotions of the original owner of the body rose up in her heart, making her feel sad and pitiful.

This marriage was confirmed with the witness of both sides’ elders and with a pledge of loyalty before God.

And now, it was nothing but a joke.

Ophelia sighed and gently stroked her chest. “This kind of man isn’t worth your heartache, and there’s more to life than just romantic relationships.”

Like her, with deep-seated hatred and injustice, she must bide her time and secretly cultivate her own power if she wants to carve out a path for herself in the complex and tangled web of power in Chicago.

Ophelia took a deep breath and got out of bed, lifting the covers.

In the corner, two caregivers who had witnessed her recent display of “bravery” didn’t dare to approach her, but their attitude was still disrespectful, and they showed no sign of awe or respect.

In their eyes, she seemed to have no weight and could be trampled on at will!

People always have those who elevate and those who belittle.

But there will come a day when she will stand on the top again!

Ophelia kept her eyes straight and left the ward directly.

As she walked down the hallway, she accidentally passed by one of the upscale wards and was surprised to see a group of familiar faces gathered around Vera’s hospital bed, including her biological father Maddox, her older brother Zachary, and her fiancé Fernando.

They were all anxiously watching the doctor examine Vera and doing everything they could to make her relax and feel comfortable, coaxing her into laughter, soothing and caring for her.

    Indeed, crying children get sweets.

Ophelia tugged at the corner of her mouth and did not linger.

Soon, she arrived at the hospital entrance.

When she stood on the roadside to hail a taxi, Ophelia realized a problem.

She was still wearing a patient gown, and it was estimated that the drivers thought she had no money for the fare, so none of the cars stopped in front of her.

She couldn’t go back, could she?

    Ophelia frowned slightly.

Under the shade of a nearby tree, a man in the backseat of a black luxury car casually glanced out the window and saw Ophelia on the roadside.

The girl’s figure was slender, the oversized hospital gown hung on her body loosely, her collarbones were clearly visible, her skin was snow-white, and her long swan-like neck was particularly beautiful.

Furthermore, her delicate and flawless face was exquisite, with bright eyes and white teeth, and her dark long hair cascaded down to her waist. When the wind blew, her hair fluttered, making her look like a fairy who had mistakenly entered the human world, incredibly beautiful.

Especially her eyes, bright as glass, exuded an air of self-confidence that looked down upon the world, captivating and unforgettable.

Graceful and elegant, like a startled swan.

The man’s fingertip paused, a strange look crossing his jet-black sharp eyes.

    So alike, too alike.

He firmly fixed his gaze on Ophelia’s figure, as if searching for something.

Tyler, who was driving, turned his head and saw his master staring intently at something and unable to look away.

It was really strange. What in the world could make his master’s eyes burn so hotly and his expression so abnormal?

Following his master’s line of sight, Tyler saw Ophelia on the roadside unable to catch a taxi.

There was no particular reason, it was just that Ophelia’s appearance was outstanding. Even though she was wearing an inconspicuous patient gown, her innate beauty was dazzling and radiant…

“Young Master Gonzales, are you looking at that mute girl? She is Maddox’s youngest daughter, named Ophelia. The whole Phoenix knows that she has a bad personality, is cruel, solitary, and not likable. She also always bullies her adopted sister, Vera!”

“Ophelia Tudor?” Samuel Gonzales lightly uttered these two words, his low and pleasant voice was particularly charming, with a hint of meaningfulness.

Tyler Fisher had just wanted to nod, but he heard Samuel’s calm voice saying, “Drive over.”

    Drive over?

Even though they knew that the Tudor family’s youngest daughter had a terrible personality, they still had to go over?

Tyler’s heart surged with towering waves, but he didn’t dare to disobey.

The luxury car slowly drove over.

It stopped right in front of Ophelia.

Ophelia was slightly startled, and she saw the car door open automatically. There was a slender and elegant figure sitting in the back seat.

From the side, the man’s back was straight, like a proud and noble cypress tree. In every move and gesture, there was an inherent arrogance and nobility.

Like a deity, he was so far away, but not to be desecrated.

Ophelia looked at him and saw the man slowly turn his head.

What met her eyes was an extremely handsome face.

The man’s facial features were exquisite, his bone structure refined, and a pair of charmingly beautiful eyes seemed to contain deep affection, making people blush and heart race. But upon closer inspection, they were as deep as a still pool, extremely dangerous.

A trace of amazement flashed in Ophelia’s eyes. Despite having seen so many people, she had never felt this way towards anyone before. He was like a deity, dazzling and too bright to look at directly.

This man was a supreme existence, perfect to the point of being impeccable!

    But Ophelia frowned.

The man’s gaze was fixed on her, deep and unfathomable, with a hint of intense scrutiny and aggression.

Ophelia’s face grew cold, and she looked back at him without flinching. “May I ask, have you seen enough?”

Tyler in the driver’s seat was dumbfounded, and his jaw almost dropped.

This mute girl dared to talk to their Young Master Gonzales like this?

    But the key was…

Their Young Master Gonzales didn’t seem angry at all?

Samuel curved his lips and gestured towards Ophelia. “Get in the car, I’ll take you there.”
