Chapter 3
by admin“Sammie is busy with work and social engagements, exhausted every day. As his wife, you should take care of him and make him comfortable. Naturally, he will come to you. But instead, you are working outside. Don’t tell me you are still using contraception between you two. From today on, you will live in this house and have sex every day. I want to watch you two.” Amanda Charles commanded in a domineering tone.
Angelia found it quite ridiculous. Who monitors their son and daughter-in-law? Isn’t this absurd?
Sammie was even more anxious. “Mom, Angelia and I will work hard when we go back. I promise that she will get pregnant within three months.”
Angelia remembered how Sammie wanted her to get pregnant and felt disgusted. She smashed a bowl and said, “How can I get pregnant? Sammie, I think you should talk to your mother about it. After all, it’s better to hear it from you than from me.”
“What does that mean?” Amanda Charles looked at Sammie.
Sammie glared at Angelia with anger and explained, “Angelia has gynecological problems.”
Angelia sneered, “I have gynecological problems? Sammie, you really don’t want your face anymore. Why don’t you tell them what you are…”
Before Angelia could finish her sentence, Sammie slapped her in the face and warned, “Angelia, control your gynecological problems and don’t harm Alyssa. Don’t forget what we wrote in the agreement.”
“Agreement? What agreement?” Amanda Charles heard the sensitive word.”If she can’t control herself, I’ll take Alyssa away and take care of her,” Sammie said with a hidden meaning.
Angelia narrowed her eyes. It was indeed written in the agreement that if she revealed his homosexuality, he would take her child away. She had forgotten about it in the heat of the moment, but…
She walked up to Sammie and slapped him in the face, saying in a cold voice, “My face is not something you can hit.”
“Angelia, what are you doing?” Amanda Charles angrily pulled Angeli away. “If you have a problem, go get help. Why are you taking it out on Sammie?”
“My mom doesn’t like that I’m a coward, so I reflected on myself. I was too cowardly in the past, but it’s never too late to change, right?” Angeli smiled and asked.
Amanda Charles was stunned. She had said that Angeli was useless and annoying, but now she was speechless after being slapped in the face.
Angeli walked outside.
“Throw away the things she bought and feed them to the dogs. It’s really heartless. She just needs to be taught a lesson,” Amanda Charles muttered.
Angeli felt a sinking feeling in her heart, but she ignored it and took a taxi home.
When Alyssa heard the sound of the door opening, she happily ran to the door and hugged Angeli’s leg. “Mommy, mommy. We haven’t seen each other in three years. I miss you so much.”
Angeli crouched down and fondly rubbed Alyssa’s head. “But it’s only been one day. How can it be three years?”
“That’s what Auntie meant. It means missing someone very much,” Alyssa explained, tilting her head.Angelia really doesn’t want Alyssa to be taken away by Sammie.
In their home, it’s not known how Alyssa will be tortured.
Before the divorce, she has to send Alyssa away.
“Alyssa, Mom wants to send you to Grandma’s house for a while. Grandma is old and needs someone to take care of her. Mom is busy with work and can’t take care of her. Can Alyssa help Mom?” Angelia said softly.
“Mom is also old. Alyssa can’t rest assured about Mom. Alyssa wants to stay with Mom,” Alyssa refused.
“Mom will go to Grandma’s house when she’s free. Alyssa, be good. Mom needs your help. Soon, Mom will have the ability to bring Grandma and Alyssa back together.”
Alyssa looked at Angelia with pursed lips, her little face drooping and very unhappy.
Angelia also couldn’t bear to send Alyssa away. Only after having Alyssa did she not feel lonely, but she was more afraid that Sammie would take Alyssa away and threaten her.
She hugged Alyssa and said in a low voice, “Alyssa has to go.”
Alyssa knew that Mom had made up her mind and hid her grievances. She choked and said, “Then, Mom, you have to eat on time, go to bed early, take care of yourself, don’t catch a cold, and if Grandma bullies you again, you will tell her my name. I won’t spare her when I come back.”
Angelia’s eyes turned red, misty and moist, and she smiled and said, “With Alyssa here, no one dares to bully Mom.”
“When will Alyssa leave?””Tomorrow, mom will take you there.”
At night, Angelia called Walden to ask for leave and turned off her phone.
The next day, she took Alyssa to Detroit and gave a raise to her aunt who originally took care of her grandmother. She spent a day with Alyssa.
On the third day, at 5 a.m., she took the first bus back to the company.
As soon as she arrived at the office, Darcey eagerly approached her and said, “Jerome’s room manager has been changed to June.”
“Did Kate make a fuss?” Angelia turned on her computer.
“As compensation, the company sent Kate to France for two weeks to attend a learning program. I heard that you were originally supposed to go to France,” said Darcey regretfully.
Angelia smiled slightly, “If it was meant to be mine, no one else can take it.”
“But Jerome is not staying at our hotel tonight.”
Angelia looked at Darcey in surprise, “Then Mr. Diana must be anxious. Jerome returned to the country with a large amount of funds, probably to invest in an ecological resort or something.”
Darcey looked around and whispered, “Yesterday, June appeared in Jerome’s room wearing pajamas and was kicked out by Jerome. I heard that Jerome not staying at our hotel is related to this, and June may be fired.”
“I almost got fired before,” Angelia whispered to Darcey, covering her mouth.
“Did you also seduce him?” Darcey blurted out.
Angelia slapped Darcey on the back, “It’s my problem. Jerome is very demanding when it comes to work.”Darcey smiled admiringly and said, “He’s pursuing perfection. He himself is a super perfect person. When everyone else couldn’t get out of finance, he could manipulate the entire market. I just don’t know what kind of woman he likes.”
Angelia looked at Darcey’s infatuation and sighed. She decided to focus on working hard and earning 400,000 before getting divorced.
She spent the day making phone calls, feeling exhausted.
She was the only one left in the business department. As she was leaving work with her bag, a van stopped in front of her. Two masked men jumped out of the car.
Angelia had a bad feeling and started running. Whitfield went to the parking lot and saw Angelia, greeting her warmly. Angelia grabbed Whitfield’s arm and urgently said, “Take me away.”
“What?” Whitfield looked at Angelia in confusion.
Angelia saw the two masked men catching up and urged, “Hurry up.”
“Oh.” Whitfield took Angelia to his car.
Angelia stared at the two masked men and didn’t notice that Whitfield was driving to the hotel to pick up Jerome. Jerome got in the car and looked at Angelia, saying in a deep voice, “Are you coming too?”
Angelia looked at Jerome in confusion. If she said no, given Jerome’s cold and indifferent personality, he would definitely throw her out of the car. In a panic, she nodded.
The car got on the highway and left the van behind. Angelia finally relaxed. She thought of a question and looked at Jerome with a smile, asking in a friendly tone, “Where are we going?”
Jerome’s dark eyes were filled with suspicion. “The alumni association, don’t you know?”
Angelia: “…”
Now she understood why Jerome asked her if she was going when he saw her. She was too nervous at the time and just nodded without thinking. It turned out to be the alumni association, so he asked her.
Can she still say no now that there’s only half an hour left before they get off the highway? And besides, she nodded, so she could only grit her teeth and go. After all, it’s the alumni association, and she’s from Harvard Medical School, so she should be able to go.
Whitfield parked the car in front of the Detroit Grand Hotel.
The Detroit Grand Hotel is a relatively upscale hotel in Detroit, and her alma mater is really rich.
Jerome walked ahead, and she followed behind him.
His steps were much larger than hers, and he walked with a slight heaviness, with a grand aura.
She had to keep up with him, and when they got into the elevator, Angelia became a little nervous.
There should be a lot of people at the alumni association, so she’ll hide in a corner and find a chance to leave, staying at a small hotel and catching an early bus back to work at the hotel tomorrow.
As soon as she entered the private room, Angelia was stunned.
There were less than ten people, and she even heard a man say to Jerome, “The most important thing is to make a grand entrance, and we can only start the meal when you arrive.”
“Sorry, some business matters delayed me. This meal is on me,” said Jerome generously, taking the main seat.
Angelia smiled awkwardly, “This alumni gathering is so small, isn’t it?” She had already come in, and leaving again would seem deliberate, so she had to sit nervously next to Jerome.
Sloan curiously looked at Angelia and asked, “Who is this?”
“Oh, um, that’s me, Angelia,” she regretfully wanted to bite her tongue as she stuttered nervously. Seeing their unfamiliar expressions, she continued, “I was Jerome’s classmate and the class president.”
“Oh,” they saw that she came with Jerome or was the class president, so they didn’t ask further.
Angelia’s forehead was covered in sweat, holding a glass of water, she drank several sips silently, listening to their conversation, feeling uneasy.
Not all the attendees were alumni, some brought their boyfriends or girlfriends. But their professions were all at the executive level, and their annual salary was at least five million or more.
She only earned a salary of just over ten thousand a year, and with good luck and more business, she had earned over two hundred thousand two years ago.
“What do you do now, Angelia?” Sloan asked curiously.
“I work at Marriott International. Not in Detroit,” Angelia vaguely replied, her face turning red without drinking alcohol.
“What does Marriott International do?” Sloan asked again.
“You’re asking too many questions,” Jerome said.
Angelia breathed a sigh of relief and gratefully poured red wine for Jerome from the table.Sloan and other alumni looked at each other curiously, wondering about the relationship between Angelia and Jerome.
“Jerome, I heard you brought a large amount of capital this time and are planning to invest in games. Are you interested in investing in this area?” Sloan asked, getting to the main topic of the alumni gathering.
“A good game takes one to two years to develop, with a team of at least twenty people. If there’s no innovation and you just follow the trend, you’ll only make a small amount of money. If there is innovation, the concept will be quickly stolen. When the game comes out, the stable period for making money is only 3 to 6 months, and a lot of promotion is needed. Normal profits are about two billion, but after deducting copyright fees, advertising fees, platform fees, taxes, and dividends, the amount left is not more than fifty million,” Jerome calmly explained.
Sloan smiled, “It’s not bad to make five hundred million in two years. The market isn’t doing well now, and many game companies are facing bankruptcy.”
Jerome swirled his wine glass.
“Like you said, many game companies face funding issues during operation. If I acquire several companies and merge them, then package them into novels and movies, and operate them into big data for listing, the valuation of at least 10 billion should be achieved within two years. The amount left after listing should be no less than one billion.”
Sloan suddenly realized that those who do big things are different. “Jerome, if my game company is willing to be acquired by you, how many original shares can you offer me?”Jerome put down his glass and said, “Today is the alumni association. My assistant will contact your company regarding business matters, and we can discuss further at that time.”
“Okay, okay. You are the best in our school, and we should all learn from you,” Sloan raised his glass and toasted to Jerome.
Angelia watched Sloan and other alumni flatter Jerome with a smile.
They were all wealthy, but there was still a big difference between them.
Just like the Green family back then, they had money, but compared to the Johnson family, they seemed shabby.
She was impressive in front of her friends, but useless in front of Neville’s parents.
“What are you laughing at?” Jerome asked.
Angelia regained her composure, held the red wine, poured herself a half cup, and poured Jerome a half cup. “I toast to you with this cup, hoping you achieve your goals.”
“Achieve my goals?” Jerome looked at her and drank all the wine in the cup in one gulp.
“Classmates are different. We toast to Jerome with just a sip, but Angelia drinks it all,” Sloan teased. “Do you have a problem?” Jerome threw a sentence over.
“No, no. Later, we will move to the club. No one can be absent, especially Angelia, got it?” Sloan instigated.
“Um, I have something to do tonight,” Angelia refused, not liking excessive jokes.”What’s the matter? We’ll go with you and help you solve it. In Detroit, I still have some ability, my uncle is a policeman, and my brother-in-law is the director of the prosecutor’s office,” Sloan said, patting his chest.
Angelia laughed dryly and seeing that he really wanted to go with her, she could only change her mind and say, “It’s not a big deal, it’s okay if you don’t go.”
Half an hour later, they were already in the private room of the club. Sloan brought over a beautiful metal box and said, “Let’s play Truth or Dare, we can’t miss anyone.”
Angelia didn’t want to play this boring game with them. She wasn’t interested in their truths, and she was even more upset about the dare.
“Angelia, it’s your turn to draw, there are ten of us, and the chances of drawing your record are small,” Sloan said with a smile, handing the box to Angelia.
Angelia saw that they had all drawn, even Jerome. In her impression, although Jerome was arrogant, he was also mature and stable. How come he was playing this childish game too?
Since they had all drawn, it wouldn’t be good if she didn’t draw, so she took the last small ball.
“Among these ten balls, only one has the letter A written on it. Look and see who gets it,” Sloan said.
Angelia looked at her ball and saw the letter A on it.
“Hahaha, Angelia, did you draw it?” Sloan laughed smugly.
Angelia scratched her forehead and noticed that Jerome, who was usually serious and cold, was also gloating. This guy’s schadenfreude was too obvious.
Jerome met Angelia’s gaze and casually threw the ball into the iron box, hitting the target.”Angelia, do you want to choose truth or dare?” Sloan asked.
She had too many secrets and didn’t want to choose truth, “Dare? What kind of dare?”
“The task you have to do is in the small ball. You just have to open it to see the note,” Sloan helped her spin the ball, took out the note, and read it out loud, “Kiss someone of the opposite sex who is present, mouth to mouth.”
“Hahaha,” Angelia laughed until her face hurt. She didn’t have the courage to do that. “I’ll change to truth.”
Jerome smiled lightly, lowered his head, took a sip of red wine, and his smile disappeared quickly, almost imperceptibly. He returned to his usual indifferent and calm demeanor.
“If you choose truth, you can’t change it. If you don’t tell the truth, you’ll be hit by a car and your loved one will die of AIDS. Everyone swears,” Sloan urged.
Everyone had sworn.
Sloan looked at Angelia ambiguously and read the contents of the paper, “How many men have you had sexual relations with, including one-time encounters?”
Angelia: “…”
Should she really say something so private?
Her embarrassed face turned red, and she hesitated to speak.
“How many, don’t tell me it’s a whole truck,” Sloan urged.
Jerome lazily leaned back on the sofa, waiting for her to speak.
“None, um,” it was really embarrassing, she said, “Just one.”
A beam of light flashed in Jerome’s eyes, and he sat up, scrutinizing Angelia.
He looked calm and unpredictable, but his heart was surging, as if something was about to burst out.He remembers that she had a boyfriend who she had been dating for almost five years and was about to get married.
Just as he was about to speak, Sloan said, “You’re single? That’s unlikely. You’re so good-looking. Don’t tell me you’ve only had one boyfriend until now?”
Angelia shook her head, unsure of what to say, feeling embarrassed.
“When was this?” someone else asked.
“When I graduated from college,” Angelia replied, lowering her head and picking up her glass, realizing that she was revealing too much for a game of truth or dare.
Jerome’s gaze became even deeper, with waves surging within that could overturn the entire world.
The atmosphere became strangely tense, and the sudden silence made everyone nervous, doubling the awkwardness.
“Keep going, keep going,” Sloan said at the right time.
A few others took turns in the middle, lightening the mood again.
One girl, whom Angelia didn’t know, chose a dare.
“Name the man you most want to sleep with and call him, telling him you want to sleep with him,” Sloan said loudly.
The girl was bold, taking out her phone and making the call.
Jerome’s phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and looked coldly at the girl.
She also stared at Jerome without hiding her sultry smile.
Angelia realized that the man the girl most wanted was Jerome.
She covered her mouth and laughed.
Jerome frowned, turning his head unhappily and looking at Angelia, saying in a deep voice, “What are you laughing at?”
“Uh…” Angelia glanced at the others and explained softly, “They’re laughing too.””What’s he doing only targeting her?”
Jerome hung up the phone with a cold face, not even giving that girl a chance to confess.
The girl shrugged, smiled slightly, and understood what Jerome meant.
She said to Sloan, “It’s not that I’m afraid, it’s that others don’t want to listen.”
“That’s settled, continue,” Sloan said.
Angelia wondered when it would end, but accidentally drew the “A” card.
She was too scared to play Truth or Dare, so she chose Truth.
Sloan read the note, “What’s the most you’ve done in one night?”
“Huh?” Angelia was very embarrassed.
Jerome shook his wine glass and looked at her leisurely.
“I don’t remember, there were some special circumstances,” Angelia explained.
The crowd cheered.
“If you don’t want to say, you’ll have to drink,” Sloan said, holding a wine glass and a bottle of red wine.
“So you can drink instead,” Angelia felt like she had lost.
Sloan poured a full glass.
Angelia reluctantly drank the whole glass of red wine.
After drinking it, she felt a little dizzy.
Her luck was not good, and she was chosen again after ten minutes.
She reluctantly drank another glass of red wine.
The red wine was very strong, and she felt very dizzy.
She lay on the back of the sofa and played with them, not knowing when it would end.
Finally, Jerome was chosen. He hasn’t said whether it’s truth or dare yet, and some of the girls in the private room screamed.
Jerome opened the note, glanced at it, and handed it to Sloan.
“Dare.”
Sloan took the note, smirked, and was about to read it when Jerome lifted Angelia’s chin and pressed his lips against hers.
Angelia, who was almost asleep, was suddenly shocked by the unexpected kiss and widened her eyes.
She could refuse other people’s dares, but not this one.
She quickly pushed Jerome away, but he was as still as a statue, even more dominant.
Between breaths, Angelia could only feel his breath on her face, unable to breathe.
He held the back of her head, and she couldn’t even move away.
Sloan was stunned for a few seconds.
The dare written on the note was clearly to call someone of the same gender and confess love to them.
He cleared his throat, opened his eyes, and lied, “Find someone of the opposite sex and kiss them for three minutes.”
Three minutes?!
Angelia frowned and felt even more dizzy.
She regretted sitting next to Jerome and being involved in the dare.
Jerome’s kiss was too deep, and she couldn’t breathe properly.
Her body felt weak, and she had no strength left.
His palm was so warm that it seemed to melt her whole body.
Another female classmate started counting down, “Ten, nine, eight…”
Angelia also counted silently, and finally, when it reached one, Jerome moved away from her lips but didn’t let go of her hand.Angelia feels dull in her head, and she can’t think clearly, whether it’s due to the effects of alcohol or lack of oxygen.
Jerome’s breathing tightens, wondering if she knows that this action represents a deeper invitation. As a man, he is the only one who can make him feel this way.
“It’s over, three minutes,” Angelia reminds him.
Jerome looks at her in a way that makes her afraid, like a lurking wild beast that can swallow her up at any moment, invading her bones.
Jerome lets her go and picks up the red wine, taking a big sip. Angelia is also thirsty and instinctively picks up the red wine, taking a big sip. The aftertaste of the red wine is so strong that her mind becomes unclear, and she leans on Sloan’s shoulder with her eyes closed.
Jerome puts down his wine glass, pulls the back of her head, and lets her fall on his shoulder.
He coldly tells Sloan, “I’ll take her home.” Sloan can clearly feel the hostility in Jerome’s eyes.
She wonders what she did wrong, as it was Angelia who got drunk and went in the wrong direction.
“Okay, okay, Jerome, you and Angelia are in a romantic relationship, right?” Sloan asks directly.
Jerome does not answer her and helps Angelia up. Angelia wakes up, opens her eyes, and her body is soft and leaning against him. She stammers, “I have no strength to walk…I can’t walk.”Jerome saw that she was quite drunk, with a flushed face and misty eyes, looking pitiful. He made a phone call and ordered, “Bring the car to the door.”
“Can it come into the private room?” Angelia asked softly.
Jerome replied, “…Do you think it’s a bicycle?”
He hung up the phone, picked her up, and headed towards the door.
Angelia felt comfortable being held by him, with her head resting on his body, murmuring, “I haven’t been in a good mood these days.”
“Hmm?” Jerome lowered his head to look at her.
“Amanda Charles bullies me, Sammie bullies me, Wettiner bullies me, and Jerome bullies me too.”
Jerome silently averted his gaze, wait, Jerome?
“Do you know who I am?” Jerome frowned and asked.
Angelia looked up at him.
She couldn’t see clearly, but she thought he was quite nice.
For so many years, she had been raising Alyssa alone, carrying the burden of illness and enduring grievances by herself. No one would help her, and no one would hold her.
In her memory, only her mother would hold her and cry. But then her mother left her behind in tears.
“Don’t leave me,” Angelia said with a smile. As she smiled, tears welled up in her eyes, and she closed them, whispering softly, “Don’t leave me again, hehe.”
Jerome’s eyes deepened. He was very angry back then, wanting to start a good relationship with her, but knowing that she was going to marry someone else, he became angry.
If she had said not to leave her back then, he definitely wouldn’t have left her.
Whitfield drove up to the entrance and opened the back door.
Jerome put her in the back seat and sat next to her.
Whitfield sensed that something was off and noticed the strong scent of alcohol on Angelia’s body.
He cautiously asked, “Jerome, I booked a presidential suite for you at The Rustic Table. Do you need to book another room for Angelia?”
“No need,” Jerome replied in a deep voice, holding Angelia close to him.
Whitfield glanced at them.
Angelia snuggled up to Jerome’s neck like a clingy kitten, which could tug at one’s heartstrings.
He had wanted to pursue Angelia, but if his rival was Jerome, he knew he would lose without a fight.
He opened the hotel room door for them and left gracefully.
Jerome put Angelia on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
The memory of that night five years ago flooded his mind so vividly, as if it were yesterday.
Was she not with her boyfriend back then?
If, if! If… could he give her another chance?
He lowered his head and slowly approached, kissing her lips.
He wanted to go deeper, just like that night five years ago, but he let go of her lips.
Angelia opened her eyes, looking dazedly at him.
“Can you give it to me?” Jerome asked seriously.
“Hmm,” Angelia answered groggily, closed her eyes, and fell asleep again.
Jerome helplessly watched her sleeping figure, sighed, and went into the bathroom to take a cold shower…Angelia was woken up by her phone ringing.
With her eyes closed, she reached under her pillow but couldn’t find her phone. She turned over and searched under the other pillow, but it wasn’t there either.
When she opened her eyes, she saw that she was in an unfamiliar environment and was startled awake.
She sat up and looked around, realizing that she was in a hotel.
She quickly checked her clothes and saw that she was still wearing the same outfit from yesterday. Besides a slight headache, she felt fine and breathed a sigh of relief.
The phone stopped ringing, and she picked up her bag from the bedside table and found her phone inside. It was Walden calling, and it was already 8:45.
She called him back immediately.
“Where are you? Do you know what time it is?” Walden asked angrily.
“I’m sorry, Wettiner. I drank too much last night and overslept. Can I take half a day off?” Angelia asked in a friendly tone.
“If you oversleep and take time off, can I fire you for being absent?” Walden said angrily.
Angelia sensed his bad mood and didn’t say anything.
Walden was silent for three seconds and then adjusted his mood. “I’m sorry. Jerome left the hotel yesterday. The pressure from the big boss was too much, and I didn’t sleep all night, so I’m in a bad mood.”
Angelia could imagine his anxiety and comforted him, “Jerome left the hotel to attend the alumni meeting in Detroit. He should still come back to Columbia and may not be taken away by Syracuse Hotel.””How did you know he went to the alumni association?”
Walden had a sudden thought in his mind, “Did you also go to the alumni association yesterday?”
“Well, it was a bit sudden,” Angelia replied vaguely.
Walden smiled, “If you can invite him back again, today won’t count as absenteeism, but a business trip.”
“Um, he’s not the kind of person who will show up just because of the alumni association,” Angelia said hesitantly.
“I’ll give you a bonus of ten thousand Dollar,” Walden said.
Angelia remained silent, even if he gave her a hundred thousand Dollar, it wouldn’t be useful.
“I’ll give you a hundred thousand Dollar,” Walden raised the price.
Angelia: “…”
“If I see him, I’ll try to invite him,” Angelia said without confidence.
“If he doesn’t stay in our hotel, how will you convince Adeline and their crew to stay?” Walden reminded her.
Angelia suddenly realized that she still needed to use Jerome’s reputation to complete next month’s order. “I’ll do my best and report back to you later.”
“You can do it,” Walden said meaningfully, and hung up the phone.
“Can I really do it?” Angelia thought to herself. She didn’t even have Jerome’s phone number, and she didn’t know how to contact him.
She walked into the bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face, then opened the door and saw Jerome busy at his desk. She was slightly surprised.
Jerome looked up and gazed deeply at her. “Did you take the hangover medicine on the bedside table?”
“Um, I didn’t see it. Thank you. I’ll go take it now,” Angelia quickly turned into the room and saw the hangover medicine and mineral water on the bedside table. She got drunk yesterday, probably brought by Jerome.
He didn’t leave her on the street and even prepared hangover medicine for her.
Did she save the galaxy in her past life?
She took the medicine and left, while Jerome was still working in the office.
His focus was on the computer, and he seemed colder and more ascetic when working.
He didn’t want to be disturbed by strangers.
Angelia didn’t dare to speak and sat quietly on the sofa, holding a pillow and watching him.
When she appeared, Jerome couldn’t concentrate, and he looked at her and asked, “What’s up?”
Angelia tentatively asked if he was going back to Columbia.
Jerome thought she wanted a ride and said, “I’ll have Whitfield take you back.”
Angelia clarified that she was actually inviting him to stay at Marriott International, where he would be a VIP as the big boss.
If he didn’t stay, it would be difficult for them.
Jerome asked who would be his room manager, and Angelia was a bit embarrassed because she knew he wouldn’t stay if it was her.
She suggested he talk to Wettiner, who would definitely meet his requirements.
Jerome said he understood and returned his gaze to the computer, his attitude unclear.
Would he stay or not?
Jerome’s phone rang, and he saw it was his grandmother calling.
She said she ran into Sloan and heard that Jerome was in Detroit with his girlfriend.
She wondered why he didn’t come to see her.”I was originally scheduled to come over at noon.”
“Will you bring that girl named Angelia?” Jerome’s grandmother asked eagerly.
Jerome looked at Angelia, “Will you accompany me to a place later? Do you have time?”
“Oh.” Angelia agreed without thinking.
Jerome wouldn’t force her to stay at Marriott International, but he would definitely not let her leave Marriott International. She couldn’t refuse.
Jerome then told his grandmother, “She’s coming with me.”
“Is it Sloan and them?” Angelia asked curiously.
Jerome didn’t answer her and hung up the phone. “Do you want to change your clothes? You smell like alcohol.”
Angelia sheepishly flipped her hair, “Yes, please. Give me an hour, I’ll go to the supermarket and buy some.”
Jerome bent his arm and looked at his watch, “The mall usually opens at 10 o’clock. You have time to go eat breakfast now. The restaurant is on the second floor. After you finish, come find me and I’ll accompany you to the mall.”
“Hmm?” Jerome accompanying her to the mall to buy clothes made her feel uneasy.
After eating the hotel’s buffet breakfast, she went directly to a nearby supermarket and bought a white chiffon dress and some underwear.
She went back and rang the doorbell.
Jerome opened the door, “Wait for me for five minutes. I’ll be done with my email and we can go out.”
“Um, I already bought the dress. Can I take a shower here?” Angelia asked politely.
Jerome frowned, “Didn’t we agree to go buy it together?”
“I thought it was still early, so I bought it on the way and I also bought some fruit for you.” Angelia smiled and held up the plastic bag.Jerome lowered his eyes and said, “You’re used to going back on your word.”
It was a statement, and Angelia was trying to recall what else she had gone back on.
Could it be that he was referring to her promise to not be the guest room manager anymore, but still bothering him about it?
“I will try to correct it,” Angelia reflected.
Jerome pursed his lips and ignored her, going back to his office.
Angelia didn’t want to stand around and cause trouble, so she went to the bathroom in the room to take a shower.
Jerome had a cold expression on his face as he made a phone call and ordered, “Send a white suit.”
Whitfield was confused.
Half an hour ago, he had sent clothes over and Mr. Taylor had told him to leave and buy them from the mall.
How come, after only half an hour, he was being asked to deliver clothes again?
And why was it a white suit, which Mr. Taylor rarely wore?
“I understand. Should I prepare it for Ms. Green?” Whitfield asked cleverly.
Jerome’s tone became even more impatient, “No need.”
Half an hour later, Jerome put on the white suit.
His tall and sturdy figure was even more handsome in the suit, exuding a powerful and restrained aura.
Angelia came out of the room and was stunned for a few seconds at the sight of Jerome.
This man really looked like a prince from a fairy tale, with beautiful features and a strong profile.
Even his profile was enough to captivate anyone.
Jerome turned around and looked at Angelia, catching her gaze.
She smiled awkwardly and said, “Mr. Taylor is so handsome, he’s truly a dream of a Harvard Medical School girl.”
“Is that so?” Jerome asked sarcastically, why was he so skeptical? In five years, she never contacted him once, even though he opened his school network and received thousands of messages, but she was never one of them.
“Yes,” Angelia replied firmly.
“Let’s go.”
“Oh.” Angelia immediately followed him, and when they reached the elevator, she pressed the down button faster.
The elevator opened, and she went in first, respectfully pressing the button to open it.
Jerome entered impatiently.
She couldn’t tell if he was a client or a boyfriend, but it was clear.
Angelia saw that Jerome’s expression was not good again, so she stood behind him with her head down, afraid of angering him again.
Jerome glanced at Angelia, then turned around.
Angelia was startled and took a step back, leaning against the elevator wall.
He supported himself on her side and looked at her, “Did you forget everything that happened last night?”
Angelia’s heart skipped a beat. Did he drink again? She only remembered falling asleep at the club and explained, “I was drunk yesterday.”
“So you forgot about saying you wanted to sleep with me?”
Angelia blurted out in shock, “I didn’t dare.”
“Is it that you didn’t dare or that you didn’t want to?” Jerome raised his voice, giving her a clear choice.
If she didn’t dare, he would give her the courage, but if she didn’t want to… he wanted to kill her.
Angelia’s mind was racing.
If she said she didn’t want to, it would seem like she was saying he wasn’t attractive, and she would die faster.
But if she said she didn’t dare, it would seem like she really wanted to sleep with him, and she would die even faster.Angelia smiled kindly and said fearfully, “I dare not imagine.”
The elevator rang and the door opened, revealing three people standing outside.
Angelia breathed a sigh of relief.
Jerome walked out with a cold face, and Angelia followed him quickly.
Jerome stopped and turned around, looking sharply at her.
Angelia’s heart tightened as she tried to remember what she had done wrong.
Before she could think of anything, he took her hand and led her forward.
His hand was warm, and as the temperature spread through her skin and into her blood, Angelia’s heart rate increased, and she felt a strange sensation.
They looked like a couple now, but Angelia knew that Jerome was only holding her hand because she was walking too slowly.
When they reached the hotel entrance, Whitfield’s car pulled up.
He glanced at Angelia’s dress and knew why Jerome had asked him to bring the white suit.
He opened the back door and Jerome told Angelia to go up first.
“Oh,” Angelia said as she sat inside.
When Jerome got in, the space became unusually cramped.
His legs were too long and touched her knees.
Angelia shifted inward uncomfortably and asked, “Um, are you going back to Columbia today?”
“Not necessarily,” Jerome replied.
Angelia didn’t know how to respond.
If he wasn’t going back to Columbia today, what reason did she have to follow him?
“Um, can I have your phone number?” Angelia stuttered, her voice much lower.
“Ha,” Jerome chuckled.
If she didn’t use the formal “您” pronoun, he would be happy to give her his number.Angelia clearly felt that she was being mocked and her face turned red.
Walden couldn’t complete the task even if she gave him a million dollars, not because she didn’t want to, but because she lacked the ability.
“I’m going to sleep,” Jerome said in a deep voice.
“Hmm,” Angelia responded, looking at him.
He closed his eyes, noble, elegant, cold, and arrogant.
People like Jerome, who are high above others, have no worries, don’t have to run around for a living, don’t have to worry about not having a job, and don’t need to worry about 400,000.
When she returns to Columbia, there will be a lot of troubles waiting for her, which makes her headache just thinking about it, and she sighs.
All her breath fell on the side of his face, and Jerome frowned, “I’m only going to say it once, remember?”
“Hmm?”
“1, 3, 6…”
“Oh,” Angelia realized that he was saying his phone number and immediately took out her phone.
By the time she took out her phone, he had already finished reciting it.
She only remembered 136 something 85.
“Do you remember?” Jerome opened his eyes and looked at her.
“Um, can you say it again? Just once, I’ll definitely remember,” Angelia said with a smile, even making a gesture.
Jerome didn’t conceal his unhappiness, took her phone, entered his phone number on it, and dialed it until his ringtone sounded, then hung up.
Angelia was happy, with a smile on her face.
She now had Jerome’s phone number, which was amazing.
She could brag about it for a long time.
Seeing her happy, Jerome’s face also softened a lot.Angelia saved his phone number, edited his name to “male god,” haha, which fits his persona well.
She played a game of Snake and died several times.
As she watched the car continue to veer, she became curious and asked in a low voice, “How much longer until we arrive?”
“Half an hour,” Whitfield replied softly.
“Oh,” Angelia continued playing the game.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of an ancient estate.
Two security guards in military uniforms stood motionless at the entrance like statues.
Jerome and his friend came all this way just to have a meal, how particular.
Angelia followed Jerome inside.
A simple old man walked out with a smile on his face and said, “You’re here.”
He looked Angelia up and down.
Angelia felt uncomfortable being scrutinized and took the initiative to call out, “Grandma.”
“I’m not grandma, just call me grandma since you’re with Jerome,” the old woman said happily.
“Grandma?” Angelia looked at Jerome.
He didn’t even look at her and went straight into the house.
The old man took Angelia’s hand and said, “Jerome should have brought you to see me earlier. Luckily, I’m still alive and can see you. That’s great.”
“I’m also happy to see you,” Angelia said politely.
“This girl speaks so well, I like her,” the old man said, putting a silver bracelet on Angelia’s hand without hesitation.
“This is for you.”
“I can’t take this,” Angelia tried to take off the bracelet.
The old man became angry. “Do you dislike my shoddy bracelet?””Of course not, this silver bracelet is very beautiful, I heard that silver can also detoxify, I really like it, but I should show filial piety to you, instead of taking your gift as soon as I arrive,” Angelia politely refused.
The old man laughed, “If you and Jerome have a child early, that would be showing filial piety to me.”
Angelia: “…”
“That grandma, Mr. Taylor and I do not have that kind of relationship,” Angelia explained.
“What relationship? You are the first girl he brought back, who else could it be?” the old man said confidently.
Angelia doubted that Jerome had deliberately brought her here pretending to be his girlfriend, but she didn’t want to be misunderstood by the old man, “Mr. Taylor is very outstanding, many girls like him, as long as he is willing, I think you can hold your great-grandchild next year, grandma.”
“Next year?” the old man smiled, “That’s great, let’s go in and have dinner, grandma will talk to him for you.”
“No need, no need, Mr. Taylor is fine like this, no need to talk,” Angelia quickly said.
The old man was even more satisfied with Angelia and took her hand inside. Jerome was already sitting at the dining table, glancing at the bracelet on Angelia’s hand, which was his grandma’s favorite bracelet, and even his mother didn’t get it.
He picked up the tea and took a sip. Angelia noticed that there was another gray-haired old man sitting next to Jerome, and respectfully called him “grandpa.”
“Um,” Jerome’s grandpa responded lightly, “sit.”
She felt like this was their family banquet, and it might not be appropriate for her to sit down, but she sat down with a stiff smile in the west-facing seat.An elderly person sat facing north and stared at Jerome, asking, “Jerome, Angelia said that you didn’t want children.”
Angelia: “…”
“One must be single-minded in order to be liked by good girls. What’s the deal with having so many girlfriends? The key is that you haven’t brought any of them back for me to see,” the elderly person continued.
Jerome frowned. “Did Angelia say all of this?”
Angelia felt like she was about to vomit blood. The elderly person was speaking to himself, “What I mean is that there are many girls who like Mr. Taylor. If he wants to, he can have a child next year.”
“I want to, but it also depends on whether the woman wants to,” Jerome said sarcastically, with a cold gaze.
Angelia felt like she was making things worse with every word, so she just kept her mouth shut.
The elderly person was happy. “So you want a child?”
“Um,” Jerome replied.
The elderly person immediately turned his gaze to Angelia’s face. “Can I hold my great-grandchild next year?”
“Hehe, I think so,” Angelia forced a laugh.
Whether she could have a great-grandchild or not was not up to her to decide. Oh well, she would just humor the elderly person.
The elderly person was indeed very happy and put a piece of braised pork in Angelia’s bowl. “Eat more. You’re too thin. It’s better to be a little fat for your health.”
“Thank you, grandma,” Angelia said politely, eating her meal with her head down. They chatted, and she tried not to say a word.
Finally, they finished their meal, and the elderly person said, “Why don’t you stay the night? Do you want one room or two?”Angelia raised her hand in surprise and said, “Grandma, I still have to go to work in the afternoon. My workplace is in Columbia, which is a bit far away. After dinner, I have to say goodbye. I’m sorry.”
Jerome looked at her deeply and said, “You’ll be off work soon if you go back now.”
“I have to work tomorrow,” Angelia said softly.
“So you came with Jerome specifically to see me?” The old woman’s eyes were shining.
Angelia could only smile bitterly. If she had known that Jerome came to see her grandmother, she would not have come.
“Good girl, go back to work. Grandma knows your intentions. When you have free time, come back and see me with Jerome,” the old woman said reluctantly, tears in her eyes.
Angelia thought of her own grandmother, who refused to leave the village she had lived in for decades. She needed to work and could only see her grandmother a few times a year. “Take care, Grandma,” she said.
“Okay, okay, Jerome, you go back with her and take good care of your girlfriend, or she’ll run away,” the old woman instructed.
Angelia: “…”
She is not Jerome’s girlfriend. She has said it once or twice, but the old woman doesn’t believe her. If she explains again now, the old woman will definitely be sad.
In the car, Angelia took off the bracelet and returned it to Jerome. “Um, Grandma misunderstood that I am your girlfriend. I can’t accept this,” she said.
“If she gave you something, you should return it to her,” Jerome said coldly.
“I may not have a chance to see your grandmother again…”
“That’s your problem,” Jerome interrupted her, closing his eyes coldly, not wanting to be disturbed.
Angelia thought for a moment and put the bracelet in the bag behind his chair.
Her phone rang and she immediately answered it when she saw that it was Walden calling. “Angelia, what did Jerome say?” Walden asked anxiously.
“Um, he’s still resting. I’ll report to you later,” Angelia said in a low voice.
“Okay,” Walden hung up the phone.
