Chapter 2: Resurrection Back to Sixteen
by adminThe feeling of dizziness and light-headedness is not very comfortable. In a haze, a pair of gentle hands are constantly stroking her cheek.
“Hey…” the sound of sighing comes from the mouth of a woman in her thirties.
She soaked a towel in cold water, wrung it out, and placed it on the forehead of the girl lying on the bed.
Her beautiful phoenix eyes were watery, and it looked like she had been crying for a while.
“Madam, please reconsider,” another man’s voice said.
“I can take care of Helen,” the woman spoke hoarsely.
“Can you really take care of her?” The man clearly did not believe her and his tone was challenging, “If you can take care of her, how did Miss end up getting sick like this?”
The woman bit her lip and couldn’t reply.
“Mom…” a familiar voice echoed in her ears.
Helena’s heart ached as tears welled up in her eyes. In her past life, her parents divorced before she was born, and her pregnant mother was kicked out.
She only returned to the York family under her grandfather’s protection just before starting high school.
“Helen?” Hearing Helena’s voice, Yolanda Diana let out a sigh of relief and tightly held Helena’s hand.
She never expected that Helena’s poor performance on the middle school entrance exam would have such a big impact on her.
Helena struggled to open her heavy eyelids and saw the figure in front of her go from blurry to clear.
She was surprised at first, but then she suddenly sat up and hugged Yolanda’s neck tightly. “Mom!”
Yolanda was also taken aback.
“Is there something wrong? Do you feel uncomfortable?”
Helena shook her head silently and held onto Yolanda’s waist tightly.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw herself in the mirror, her white and tender little face was pale and sickly.
As she looked around, this was her home, where she had lived for sixteen years.
Looking at the man sitting by the bed, Helena knew that she had gone back to the summer when she was sixteen.
“Don’t scare your mom!” Yolanda was also frightened by the way her daughter looked and quickly stood up.
“Helena, don’t be afraid, Mom will take you to the hospital!”
“Mom, I’m fine.” Helena called out to Yolanda, “Don’t go.”
“Alright.” Yolanda sat on the bed and hugged Helena into her arms, her eyes showing love. “How do you feel now, Helena?”
“I’m fine, I’m fine…” Helena leaned her head against Yolanda’s chest and heard her steady heartbeat.
Her nose felt a little sour, and when she closed her eyes, she saw her mother’s suicidal death again. Helena couldn’t help but hold onto Yolanda’s waist tightly. “Mom, don’t leave…”
“Silly child.” Yolanda glanced at the man next to her and asked, “Although it’s a bit sudden, do you want to go to your father’s?”
Helena glanced at the man beside her and recognized him as the butler of the York family. “I have a father? Is he still alive? Why didn’t my mom ever mention him before?”
“Uh…” Yolanda hesitated for a moment before answering, “That was so long ago that I didn’t mention it to you.”
“Miss, I am Wilbur Shoemaker, the butler of the York family. You can call me Uncle Wilbur,” the man smiled and said, “I came to take Miss home this time.”
“Go home?” Helena frowned in disgust. She remembered clearly that Wilbur used to threaten her two-facedly. Now he was putting on a front. In her past life, he would always leave with a stern expression after threatening her to recognize her identity.
