Chapter 2
by soul-beautyThe bus swayed for half an hour before finally arriving home.
Emily washed herself from head to toe three times, rubbing her skin until it turned red.
She didn’t come out of the bathroom until the strange man’s scent was gone, and her legs still hurt when she walked.
“Emily, no matter what, a girl must always respect and love herself.
Even if you meet someone who truly loves you, don’t easily give yourself away!
That way, your future husband will cherish you,” her mother’s words still echoed in her ears as Emily bit her hand.
Her phone rang, and it was the hospital calling, “Miss Miller, your grandmother’s medical expenses must be paid by next Monday!”
“I know…” Emily hung up the phone and started changing clothes.
Life is so cruel, not even giving her time to grieve!
Reluctant to spend money on a taxi, she sat on the bus for over two hours.
When she arrived, it was almost noon.
Emily looked at the surrounding buildings, this was a famous wealthy area in Mountain View.
She was familiar with the route and entered the villa.
Emily’s fingers subconsciously clenched, every time she came here, it was torture for her, but there was no other way, her grandmother in the hospital was waiting for her medical expenses.
Just as she entered the door, she was stopped by Emma, “Miss, the master is not available to see you today, he and the madam are entertaining guests!”
Although Emma called her miss, her attitude was not polite at all.
Normally, she might have turned around and left, but not today.
Emily pretended to leave, then quickly ran inside when Emma relaxed her guard.
“Miss, you can’t go in! Madam, madam–“
“Smack!” Emily was suddenly slapped in the face.
Olivia Edwards, who came out, glared at her fiercely, “You little bitch, who let you in!”
Emily covered her burning face and had become accustomed to this kind of verbal attack.
Over ten years ago, Olivia had forced her mother to jump off a building in an attempt to become the mistress.
At that time, Emily was only eight years old and had witnessed everything.
She had rushed into the crowd to laugh at Olivia, who was crazy enough to try to become a mistress at such a young age.
She didn’t know if it was karma, but Olivia had lost her unborn son after falling to the ground.
“I’m looking for my dad,” Emily thought of her grandmother, but could only swallow her pride.
“Your dad doesn’t have time to see you! There are important guests at home, don’t make trouble for me here, hurry up and leave!”
“I’m looking for my dad for an important matter!”
“What important matter could it be, isn’t it just for money?” Olivia sneered, grinding her teeth, “As soon as I see your face, I think of your dead mother, a whole body of bad luck! She should have just died, but instead she left behind you, this little slut who comes to ask for money every day! Both mother and daughter are worthless!”
Now, just by closing her eyes, she could still remember the sight of her mother lying in a pool of blood.
Emily seemed to be back to when she was eight years old, going crazy and rushing forward, “You can’t talk about my mother!”
But Emma was pulling her back, and before she could get close, Olivia had already slapped her in the face.
“I don’t know there are important guests here, why are you making a scene!”
It seemed that there was a commotion, and Henry Miller walked over, frowning and sternly scolding.
Olivia hurried over to report first, “Husband, your good daughter is speaking rudely!”
Emily didn’t have the mood to argue with her, and got straight to the point, “Dad, the hospital is urging for grandmother’s medical expenses…”
“Let’s talk about it another day, there are guests at home now, you should go back first!” Henry interrupted impatiently.
“If I can’t get the money, I won’t leave.” Emily stood her ground.
“Husband, look at her attitude!”
Olivia always found the right timing, with a face full of grievances, “I just advised her to come back another day, but she wouldn’t listen and insisted on barging in, and even…even mocked me about what happened in the past! You should know, our son died because of her, and she even said it was deserved that no one from the Miller family could carry on the family line!”
Henry was really angry, and threw the dumbbell he was holding, “Beast!”
Emily slightly turned her head to dodge, but the next second, Henry kicked her hard.
Men are different from women, and his strength was heavy. She was kicked in the ribs, and her whole body flew to the side, then hit the marble column with a muffled groan.
In the pain, her blurry vision saw a pair of shiny leather shoes next to the marble.
Following the straight pants leg upwards, Emily touched a pair of deep and restrained eyes that she would never forget in her lifetime…it was him!
